Large Hawk Cuckoo

A large migratory cuckoo, superficially similar to the Accipiter hawks. Breast streaked rufous, contrasting with brown barring on belly and flanks. Upperparts largely dark brown, contrasting with grey head. Tail has four dark bars, with white tip. LArger bodied than similar Hodgson's Hawk Cuckoo, giving it a small-headed appearance. Young birds are heavily streaked on underparts, while brown upperparts show fine barring.

Asian Emerald Cockoo

Male bird is small, glossy gold-tinged emerald-green, white bars on lower breast to vent, dark-tipped rich yellowish bill. Female bird plain rufous crown and nape, coppery-green upperparts, entirely barred underparts. Juvenile like female but less green above with dark and buff bars on crown to mantle, rufous-tipped upperpart feathers and wing-coverts, darker tail with more rufous but no white bars, darker bill.

Asian Koel

A familiar, long-tailed cuckoo of parkland and urban areas. Male is entirely glossy black. Female has dark brown upperparts, heavily spotted buff. Both sexes have bright crimson eyes and a pale greenish bill. Distinguished in flight from the crows by its longer tail and more rapid wing-beats.

Little Bronze Cuckoo

Smallest resident cuckoo in Singapore. Upperparts bronzy green, underparts mostly white with dark barring.Bill black. Head is finely barred, with dark eye-stripe that is incomplete or poorly defined in some individuals. Tail lined white. Adults have reddish eye-ring. Juveniles have dull brownish upperparts and pale underparts, are weakly to completely unbarred, and have yellow eye-ring.

Indian Cuckoo

A medium size cuckoo, somewhat similar to Oriental Cuckoo. Head grey. Back, mantle and wings greyish brown. White underparts barred with widely spread black bands from breast to vent. Upper breast wash brown, with finer barrig then rest of the underparts. Grey tail ends with a prominat broad black subterminal band that is tipped white. Juvenile paler.

Square-tailed Drongo-Cuckoo

An unmistakable, glossy black cuckoo. Superficially simular to a 'racket-less' Greater Racket-tailed or Crow-billed Drongo, but lighter built, with a thin bill. Fine white bands on the undertail coverts and tail feather can be difficult to see. Juveniles are finely spotted on head, upperparts and breast, and are more strongly marked on undertail coverts

Banded Bay Cuckoo

Medium size, finely barred cuckoo. Upperparts rufous, underparts white. Rufous mask is separated from crown by white brow, distinguishing it from similar looking juvenile or hepatic morphs of Plaintive Cuckoo. Fine Dark barring extends from head to tail.
