Scaly-breasted Munia

Brown upperparts, within its whitish underparts is prominant black scales and think robust bill. Juveniles are uniformly drab brown with a black bill.

White-headed Munia

Distinctive with white head. Head, throat and upper breast are white, the rest of the body chestnut brown. Centre of belly and undertail coverts balck. Rump and uppertail coverts maroon-chestnut. Bill pale grey-blue. Feet dull grey.

Chestnut Munia

A  black-headed munia. Entire head and throat black, rest of the body rich chestnut, with darker lower belly and vent. Bill pale greyish blue. Young birds are nondescript pale brown, with buff underparts.

Javan Munia

A dark, white-bellied Munia. Similar to White-rumped Mania but lacks the white rump and fine white streakings of the upper parts, while the face and breast are black. Upperparts dark brown with white belly and flanks.
