Whimbrel

Large shorebird with long, decurved bill with pinkish base, and bluish-grey legs. Upperparts mostly dark greyish browm. Combination of prominent dark brown lateral crown-stripe and eye-stripe and broad whitish brow distinguishes from rarer Eurasian Curlew. In flight, dark above with contrasting white back and rump and plain whitish underwing coverts.
