A very well designed fish-eye lens from Zeiss. All of them, even for Contax series, were made in Germany. The lens was intorduced in 1972 for QBM mount, and simultaneously 150 pieces of prodcution run for Contarex. The Contax CY mount was introduced in 1974/75. The 16/2.8 fisheye is good for creating dramatic photographic effect. I find it particularly suitable for architecture with circular lines. Also it is a 'standard' lens for taking interior of church. I always got good results with it taking churches interior.
