Crimson Sunbird

A bright red, long-tailed sunbird. Male is unmistakable with combination of crimson head, mantle, throat and upper breast, dark blue forehead and moustache. Rump yellowish with rest of the underpart dark greyish. Tail dark violet. Female is dull olive on upperparts and pale yellowish on underparts.

Brown-throated Sunbird

Male is yellow on breast and belly with iridescent pinkish-brown throat. Upperparts glossy green and purple. Wings brown with a purple patch at shoulder. Female is olive-green on upperparts and yellowish on underparts, with diagnostic broken yellow eye-ring.

Copper-throated Sunbird

Large sunbird of mangroves, with relatively long tail. Male appears dark with shiny green crown and shoulder patch, iridescent coppery-red throat and upper breast. Female is dark olive on upperparts and yellow on underparts, with greyish head and throat. Note also incomplete white eye-ring, unlike yellow of Brown-throated Sunbird.
