The only iora in Singapore. A very attractive but easily overlooked bird of the tree canopy in urban park. Breeding male has mostly black upperparts from the cap onwards, with two white wing bars. Breeding males are stunning in breeding plumage with back crown, mantle, wings and tail that contrast strongly with yellow underparts. Non-breeding male has olive-green upperparts. Female is less strongly marked with paler green upperparts. Both sexes have two prominent white wing bars.
